Bluetooth is a way for gadgets like Netbooks to connect to other equipment over a short distance. Bluetooth creates a private, highly secure short range network that allows for cable free and easy connection. It's possible to connect more than one device through Bluetooth at a time. The Asus EEE PC 1215N has an LCD screen that uses LED backlighting technology. LED backlighting is used in TVs, computer monitors, netbook and laptop computers. It is an energy efficient form of backlighting. LED stands for light emitting diodes and is an alternative to the older method of 'tube' lighting. This older method of illumination requires more energy and can produce patchy brightness and poor black colour on screen. LED backlighting produces excellent blacks, does away with patches on the display, and produces excellent levels of contrast and detail previously not possible. LED lighting also requires less room, reducing the weight and profile of the display.
This netbook has a built-in webcam that can be used on video chat software, or to broadcast yourself on the Internet on sites like YouTube. A built in camera allows you to use software such as MSN messenger or skype to make video calls and keep in touch with friends and family anywhere there is a wi-fi connection (or using a pre-paid dongle).
