Scart is a connection between two pieces of audio visual equipment. Although being gradually replaced by the newer HDMI connections, scart is still used on some non-HD equipment you may have (such as pre-HD sky boxes). As such modern TVs normally have one or more scart sockets to make them backwards compatible. The [product_name] has 2 scart connections for this purpose.
Full HD TVs are capable of showing high definition images that are up to five times as sharp and detailed as old style 'standard definition' images. You'll need to have an HD source, such as a Blu-ray player, games console or HD TV to be able to really see the difference though. All TVs on sale today are HD-Ready. A Full HD TV has a letter p after it and this means that the picture is shown in the best possible quality.
1920 x 1080 is the highest resolution available on a television. Often shortened to 1080p, it refers to the number of pixels a screen can display and the level of detail it can show.
There's nothing better than enjoying a film on your home cinema system. And if you're a fan of the movies then you'll want to make sure you buy a TV with 24p True Cinema. (Sometimes called 24p Real Cinema). The 32LW450 comes with 24p True Cinema. What this basically means is that the TV works in sync with your movie player and shows each frame of the film at a the exact rate it was filmed at. You may not have noticed in the past but older TVs weren't capable of this and had to subtly adjust the speed of the movie to match the TV. 24p shows films exactly at the same rate you'd get in a movie theatre.
The 32LW450 has 3 x HDMI inputs. HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface and is a standard used for audio / visual equipment. Like the older scart, HDMI is a port that allows you to connect things like Blu-ray players and games consoles to your television. Unlike scart, they're very easy to plug in - and take up a fraction of the space scart leads do. HDMI allows for HD devices to send high resolution information to the television. HDMI is an uncompressed digital signal, as opposed to previous analog interfaces such as S-Video, component video and composite video. In short, HDMI is the best way to connect your AV equipment and is going to be with us a good way into the future. There's a really good blog post over at Hi-Def hardware if you'd like to find out more.
A TV that's 3D ready lets you view 3D television, movies and games in full 3D. 3D TV uses stereoscopic technology (the same thing currently being used to thrill audiences in 3D cinemas) which shows a slightly different image to each eye in order to create depth. Forget crummy old cardboard glasses, modern 3D television uses Active Shutter Technology to delivery full HD 3D movies and programmes.
To watch 3DTV you'll need a TV such as the LG 32LW450U, a pair of 3D glasses for each viewer and a 3D video source. A 3D Blu-ray player is a popular choice, and Sky TV have content that's available now for 3D TVs. Although in it's infancy, 3D gaming is also set to take off soon, with the Sony PS3 offering free firmware upgrades to allow people to enjoy 3D gaming in HD.
This television features Clear Voice technology. This is a special set of audio enhancements that aim to make speech in movies, TV, commentary etc easier to hear. It works by amplifying the sound of each human voice and make it clearer against background noise.
LG Picture Wizard is a great idea. It helps you customize the picture to get the very best out of your TV. If you've ever been confounded by the vast array of choices found under your TV's 'settings' menu, then this is a feature you'll appreciate. Picture Wizard takes you step by step through the process of setting brightness, contrast and every other variable to let you get the best picture.
Here's a video on YouTube showing how Picture Wizard works.
SimpLink is an LG technology that lets you control different devices connected to your television through a single remote control. For example, if you have a home cinema it's convenient to be able to adjust the volume using your TV remote.
Fast moving scenes have always presented a challenge for TV manufacturers. On flat panel sets, fast action can often appear blurred or have a lack of detail. TruMotion 100Hz combats poor image quality in fast motion by displaying 100 images per second. Normal TV sets can often only display half as many as this, resulting in poor image quality and 'smearing' of the image.
So where do these extra frames come from? TruMotion analyses the images in real time and calculates the extra frames that should go between the existing ones. If you imagine a ball moving quickly across the screen, TruMotion would add in extra frames into the motion that would allow for greater detail and to make the ball move smoothly from A to B.
Visit the LG page on TruMotion 100Hz for more info and a presentation of how it works.
