One of the specs you'll come across time and time again with televisions such as the Panasonic TX-L37G20B is 100Hz motion. This feature improves how fast action scenes appear on flat panel TVs. One problem with flat displays in the past has been the loss of detail, or the appearance of 'motion blur' (a form of picture distortion) during sports and action scenes. 100Hz technology aims to smooth out flaws in fast scenes by increasing the number of frames that are shown. Different manufacturers have slightly different named 100Hz technologies, but they all tackle the problem in a similar way - by adding in extra frames that improve the appearance of the motion being shown on screen.
Full HD TVs are capable of showing high definition images that are up to five times as sharp and detailed as old style 'standard definition' images. You'll need to have an HD source, such as a Blu-ray player, games console or HD TV to be able to really see the difference though. All TVs on sale today are HD-Ready. A Full HD TV has a letter p after it and this means that the picture is shown in the best possible quality.
Scart is a connection between two pieces of audio visual equipment. Although being gradually replaced by the newer HDMI connections, scart is still used on some non-HD equipment you may have (such as pre-HD sky boxes). As such modern TVs normally have one or more scart sockets to make them backwards compatible. The [product_name] has 2 scart connections for this purpose.
There's nothing better than enjoying a film on your home cinema system. And if you're a fan of the movies then you'll want to make sure you buy a TV with 24p True Cinema. (Sometimes called 24p Real Cinema). The L37G20B comes with 24p True Cinema. What this basically means is that the TV works in sync with your movie player and shows each frame of the film at a the exact rate it was filmed at. You may not have noticed in the past but older TVs weren't capable of this and had to subtly adjust the speed of the movie to match the TV. 24p shows films exactly at the same rate you'd get in a movie theatre.
The L37G20B has 4 x HDMI inputs. HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface and is a standard used for audio / visual equipment. Like the older scart, HDMI is a port that allows you to connect things like Blu-ray players and games consoles to your television. Unlike scart, they're very easy to plug in - and take up a fraction of the space scart leads do. HDMI allows for HD devices to send high resolution information to the television. HDMI is an uncompressed digital signal, as opposed to previous analog interfaces such as S-Video, component video and composite video. In short, HDMI is the best way to connect your AV equipment and is going to be with us a good way into the future. There's a really good blog post over at Hi-Def hardware if you'd like to find out more.

DLNA allows you to connect devices easiler as well a share content over your home Wi-fi network. It's a set of rules that manufacturers work to in order to get a range of devices working together. Lean about DLNA here.
Freesat HD is a joint venture between ITV and BBC and allows you to watch high definition television on an HD-ready television. The Panasonic TX-L37G20B has Freesat HD built in, but you can also buy separate digital 'boxes' that allow you to receive it. As with Freeview HD, there's no subscription charge to pay for the service. The difference between Freesat and Freeview is that Freesat is satellite based and Freeview is terrestrial. You will need a satellite dish in order to receive Freesat HD. These are available cheaply online from Amazon. It's well worth a visit to the Freesat HD on the official webpage to find out more about the service. And there's an excellent article on Freesat HD and Freesat here. You'll also want to have a read through the helpful FAQ section on UK Satellite Help.
Although this feature comes in slightly different flavours, depending on the manufacturer, the technology works in the same way. A light sensor detects the current lighting conditions in the room and alters the brightness and contrast accordingly. The aim is to produce the perfect conditions for the current brightness of your room. This feature can normally be turned off it needs be. The L37G20B has a built in light sensor.
