The SC-BTT270 has 1 x HDMI inputs. HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface and is a standard used for audio / visual equipment. Like the older scart, HDMI is a port that allows you to connect things like Blu-ray players and games consoles to your television. Unlike scart, they're very easy to plug in - and take up a fraction of the space scart leads do. HDMI allows for HD devices to send high resolution information to the television. HDMI is an uncompressed digital signal, as opposed to previous analog interfaces such as S-Video, component video and composite video. In short, HDMI is the best way to connect your AV equipment and is going to be with us a good way into the future. There's a really good blog post over at Hi-Def hardware if you'd like to find out more.
There's nothing better than enjoying a film on your home cinema system. And if you're a fan of the movies then you'll want to make sure you buy a television and blu-ray player that supports 24p True Cinema. (Sometimes called 24p Real Cinema). The SC-BTT270 is capable of 24p playback. This means that the blu-ray player shows each frame of the film at a the exact rate it was filmed at. You may not have noticed in the past but older TVs weren't capable of this and had to subtly adjust the speed of the movie to match the TV. 24p shows films exactly at the same rate you'd get in a movie theatre. The reason this matters is that the movie will play much smoother with 24p.
DivX is a method of compressing movie files. It's main strengths are that it has a small file size but manages to keep a high movie quality. Because DivX is so popular, many televisions, DVD, Blu-ray and other video devices now support the format. The SC-BTT270 supports DivX playback meaning that you can play any movies on it that were encoded in this format. Find out more about DivX here.

DolbyHD does for audio what HD does for video, offering a perfect 'HD'sound quality. As Blu-ray discs have a lot more room on them than old DVD formats it's possible to have a much higher quality audio on the disc. The sound you hear is 100% uncompressed so there's no distortion and a huge difference in the quality.
Here's a quick overview of some of the highlights:
You can read more about Dolby TrueHD on the officical site here. And a more in-depth article here.

Viera Cast has an easy-to-use interface that lets you choose what you want to watch. One user at AV Forums commented:
"...the interface is superb, it quick and easy to find just what you want, and, the vids themselves actually look pretty darn good on the panny even in full screen. thats variable of course, but most the content i watch handles the full screen very well indeed."
Here's a video on youtube showing some of Viera Cast's features that came out in 2011.
